Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor died at the age of 79, Kapoor was unwell for
quite some time. And admitted to the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai.
Shashi Kapoor born as Balbir Raj Kapoor; 18 March 1938 . The third and youngest
son of Prithviraj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor made his Bollywood debut in 1961, as
the lead actor, in the film Dharmputra. Acting legend and theatre veteran Shashi Kapoor
had acted over 175 movies, in both Indian and international arena.
Shashi Kapoor was never averse to be a part of parallel cinema movement, and is often considered
an auteur in the movement. While his most memorable mainstream roles were in movies like
Deewar, Namak Halal, Heeralal Pannalal, Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila etc,
Shashi Kapoor will also be known for his love for theatre. In fact he met his wife Jennifer Kendall
through his theatre activities. Who was a theatre actor. Jennifer founded the Prithvi Theatre, which
is today the heart of Mumbai’s thriving theatre scene.
In 2011, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India for his
contributions to Art-Cinema. [3]  In 2015, he was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award,
making him the third member of his family to receive the highest award in Indian
Cinema after Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor. Rest in peace, Shashiji! You will be missed!
